New comic preview
Well folks, the UK Web and Mini Comix Thing has been and gone. I met some very interesting people, and sold quite a bit of my stock, but I still have quite a few issues of Cap Gun Cavalcade left for now, which will soon be made available from my site for the low, low cost of two English pounds. For now, enjoy this preview of an upcoming webcomic that I'm working on right now.

6 Minute Comics
My friend Fred and I invented a drinking game when we were out at a pub one night. The long and short of it is, you have to draw one panel at a time in under 1min 30secs. The best way to do this is to keep drinking, and alternate panels without getting any time to think about your drawing; it leads to some super fucked-up results. Sooner or later, we're going to put them up onlin in their own special place, but in the meantime, we;re trying to keep the game alive by just playing with ourselves (masturbation haw haw) and creating lunch break comics in 6 mins. For more of Fred's stuff, go to his blog. Here's a couple I did:

Just got the first page done last night! I'm probably going to fiddle with it a bit, And I've still yet to add the caption boxes, but consider this a solid preview:

Idea for Background Shading
I'm a bloody lazy man, and this comic is going to be hard enough as it is (being as I'm going to draw it on A3 paper to encourage detailing,) so I've decided to opt for a simple method for drawing backgrounds, which will hopefully have the added bonus of reducing distraction from the foreground characters. Behold, the line and wash technique:

Simple, eh?
Pen-and-Ink Practice Faces
It's been about four years since I worked with ink and nibs, and even then it was just for sillies, so this is all relatively fresh territory for me. I'm quite pleased with the long-faced man, though. I think he has a certain Ralph Steadman style about him.

Kicking Things Off Without Style
To begin with, I have been told that keeping a blog is a good habit for those trying to proceed with new projects. It also happens to comprise about 40% of the pungent intellectual waste matter clogging up the arterial network of the internet.
This particular narcissistic rambling is a chronicle of my progress in creating a small-print, independently published (read 'worthless') comic for the UK Web & Mini Comix Thing 2010, where I will attempt to flog said comic for pennies and handjobs. I'll also be trying to promote my webcomic, DirtPony and handshake some people in a pathetic display of greasy networking and sycophantic leg-humping.
I'll be trying to complete this 24-page, hand-drawn, pen-and-ink project while also finishing my final semester at university.
So, continue watching this space for various character doodles, plot outlines, plans, diagrams and maybe a breakdown or two.
